Overview
The Senior Manager, Advanced Qualification Program (AQP) manages all aspects of the development, implementation and certification of AQP for all Flight Crew. Supports Flight Operations as a subject matter expert in training program regulatory compliance and in the development and management of Advanced Qualification Program (AQP) to ensure operational safety. Manages and establishes direction for a team to execute AQP in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and collaborates with the FAA and serves as the subject lead for both internal and external audits of the pilot training program.
Responsibilities
Executes the AQP strategy for Atlas Air, this includes but is not limited to implementing and managing the administration of AQP for Flight Crew as delegated by the Senior Director, Flight Procedures, Training and Standards
Develops the framework for the implementation and approval of AQP at Atlas Air for Flight Crew
Serves as Atlas Air’s regulatory expert on 14 CFR Part 121 subpart Y, Advisory Circular 120-54 and other AQP regulatory guidance. Also serves as the Atlas Air liaison to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Training and Simulation Group (AFS-280)
Leverages AQP expertise to assist Atlas Air with the application of the AQP philosophy and practices to their training curricula. Advises AQP development team on best practices for design as related to the ability to receive FAA approval within AQP
Interprets and analyzes regulatory, operational, and policy changes for impact on the training program and manages the coordination, approval, and implementation of any associated changes internally and externally
Leads a team that executes all aspects of AQP in the development and maintenance of all flight training curricula for pilots and instructors, ensures compliance with FAA regulations, company policies and the Atlas Air Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA)
Manages the administration of the pilot qualification standards in coordination with Training and Standards management and assess and coordinates all changes for impact on the training program. Maintain AQP manuals and documentation to currency, relevance and accuracy
Effectively collaborates with the FAA and participates in routine internal and external training program audits. Coordinates with Safety and Regulatory Compliance (SRC) in relation to training-related safety items
Serves as a liaison to industry professionals when attending related meetings and conferences; collaborate and network to identify and incorporate industry best practices where applicable
Maintains relationships with other airline counterparts for AQP benchmarking
Direct budget responsibilities for all activities related to AQP. Forecast resources, headcount and travel needed for annual budget period in relation to strategic efforts and operational goals
Supports development of a strategic roadmap resulting in greater alignment between initiatives and strategy
Manages and develops direct reports through effective performance management and ongoing feedback, focusing on delegation for stretch assignments. Developing the team for capacity and growth, evaluating performance across the team and time management
Performs other responsibilities as assigned by the Senior Director, Flight Procedures, Training and Standards
Qualifications
Minimum 7 years’ experience in an Aviation training organization
Bachelor’s Degree in Aviation Management or relevant field is required
Minimum Five 5 years’ experience working in a technical aviation field
Must have 2 years’ experience as a pilot, dispatcher, or flight attendant in complex aviation operations
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Must have thorough understanding of 14 CFR Part 121 Subparts N, O, P, and Y, Advisory Circular 120-54A and other AQP regulatory guidance
Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and diplomacy
Ability to champion cross-departmental operational solutions

Unrestricted engine run qualifications on 737, 777 and 747 aircraft
Formal training on advanced systems/avionics on 737, 777, 747 aircraft

Must possess valid passport and be able to travel for AOG recovery and special projects regularly
Bore scope qualified on CFM, Pratt Whitney or GE-90 engines

Coordinate and supervise all cargo- related functions associated with handling the flight, which includes inspection of ULD’s, checking the weights randomly or on site inspection of pallets being weighed prior to being loaded onto Atlas Air or Polar Air Cargo aircraft.
Conduct a thorough HAZMAT check of all outbound cargo.
Check Accuracy of NOTOC, create NOTOC if necessary.
Ensure that the departing crew receives NOTOC in a timely manor so that crewmembers may conduct their inspection.
Compute Weight and Balance.
Receive and reproduce flight plans, weather, NOTAM/INTAMS and any other documents sent to the flight crews from Dispatch to operate their flight.
Send and receive aircraft movement and load messages to and from up line and down line stations via SITA, e-Mail, fax or any other means required to notify all concerned.
Alert crews for flights and arrange ground transportation for crew between aircraft, operations, and hotels as required.
Arrange and order catering for flights adhering to proper catering procedures and levels per Atlas Air and Polar Air Cargo catering standards as provided in the published manuals.
Supervise aircraft and loading crews.
Ensure that the station-marshalling plan is followed by vendors and ground handlers, as required.
Replace and/or revises aircraft manuals and Jeppesens, as required.
Conduct FOD and Safety audits as required.
Identify potential problems as they develop and works with the Station Manager, and Customer to reach resolutions.
Ensure that all required Atlas or Polar reports are completed and given distributed.
Follow all required safety and security procedures as dictated by the Ground Security Coordinator (GSC) and the TSA.
Qualifications
Background in the airline industry or aviation preferred
Previous experience in areas of duty and cargo/passenger service operations preferred
Required to successfully pass company initial and annual recurrent training in areas of Loadplanning, Weight & Balance, and aircraft handling

The Flight Training Instructor provides training to flight crewmembers at the direction of the respective Fleet Captain. Flight Training Instructors will conduct classroom instruction, simulator instruction, or both, depending on individual qualifications and at the direction of the Fleet Captain.
Responsibilities
Responsible for conducting training for flight crewmembers in accordance with the Flight Operations Training Manual (FOTM) as directed by the respective Fleet Captain.
Provide fixed base instruction, full motion flight simulation instruction, and/or classroom instruction, as directed by the Fleet Captain for flight crewmembers initial, recurrent, upgrade and/or differences training in ground school, fixed based and/or full flight simulators.
Completes appropriate flight crewmember training records and other flight training documentation in a timely manner and directs to the appropriate filing source.
Proactively ensures training environment and equipment are set-up and running in preparation for instruction (i.e. presentation media is operating correctly and required reference materials and distributed materials are available).
Ensure technical accuracy of departmental and training manuals, including aircraft systems manuals, flight handbooks, performance manuals, checklists, flight operations manuals and operations specifications.
Contribute to the development of training programs, visual aids and other training materials for classroom presentation and individual review.
Communicates issues of concern, or exceptional achievement, regarding crewmember performance to the respective Fleet Captain in a timely manner
Maintains a high level of professionalism and motivation personally, and instills that motivation in the crewmembers
Maintains a high level of knowledge and understanding in Company Procedures and Policies.

Manages and controls maintenance operations on a shift basis in order to provide safe, compliant and reliable aircraft operations. Is the primary point of contact regarding aircraft out of service and the current mechanical status of all aircraft in Atlas Air / Polar Air fleets. Focal point within the Global Control Center for all aircraft maintenance related items and provides bi directional communications to business unit members as required by the general maintenance manual and internal operating procedures. Maintains a shift turnover log of all communications pertaining to out-of-service aircraft and critical or damage events including documentation of aircraft worked during shift

Qualifications
Airframe and Powerplant License required.
Minimum 5 years experience in the airline industry, preferably with wide-body aircraft.

Provides interface between Atlas Air and area maintenance providers regarding all aircraft and engine maintenance issues. Monitor reliability of area based fleet, implements corrective action in concert with Atlas Air Maintenance Control, Technical Support and vendors. Institutes vendor performance auditing procedures and monitors invoicing for correct billing. Ensures vendor compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations. Maintains liaison with Ground Operations and Flight Operations in order to ensure safe and dependable operations.
Responsibilities
Providing direct oversight and control over the maintenance in the location.
Ensures good communication with local airport authorities and companies with regards to leases or contracts the company may have place at his location
Arranges airport passes and Visa’s for third party cover and support to be coordinated with the Director of maintenance.
Ensures the vendors at his location are trained and qualified in accordance with the GMM policies and procedures
Controls and coordinates resources in order to assure that mechanical discrepancies are troubleshot and corrected in a timely manner.
Provides input and control of aircraft maintenance workload to assure chronic and scheduled discrepancies are corrected.
Responsible for timely repairs of deferred maintenance item and responsible for the timely return of correct and accurate Aircraft log pages to HDQ and ensures that the company electronic maintenance system (TRAX) is updated in a timely manner.
At his location maintains surveillance allocation and storage of the aircraft parts.
Provides input and control of aircraft maintenance workload to assure chronic and scheduled discrepancies are corrected.
Monitors Tooling requirements’
Sets up work schedule’s in coordination Maintenance control for planning purposes and routing of the aircraft with the minimum disruption to the aircraft schedule
Administers the support requirement with Materials, Planning, Quality Control and contract agencies.
Monitors budget and approved invoices.
Develops station maintenance budget.
Could be allocated additional location to manage remotely in addition to the normal location.

Qualifications
Bachelors degree or equivalent experience required
Minimum of five (5) years relevant experience
Minimum three (3) years managerial experience
Must hold a current Full Federal Aviation Administration Airframe and Powerplant License.
Retain the aircraft certificates on the aircraft operated by the company.
Be able to read and interpret aircraft maintenance manuals.

Provides crew scheduling flight crew data that determines if a crewmember is qualified and current to perform assigned duties
