Overview

 

This position reports to the Manager, Payroll and is responsible for the oversight and processing of AAWW domestic and international payrolls, payroll system maintenance and testing, and related general ledger functions. In addition this role is responsible for pulling and analyzing reports for the Payroll team. This role supervises payroll specialists and performs review and approval of payrolls.

Responsibilities
  • Review and approve payroll for the company and its subsidiaries domestic and international employees on a semi-monthly. bi-weekly and monthly basis
  • Perform audits and reconciliation of payroll information to ensure accuracy.
  • Supervision, training, development and performance management of staff, as well as the management of employee issues and problem resolution.
  • Process payrolls, as required
  • Perform and manage testing of payroll system upgrades and configuration changes
  • Identify and implement areas of system & process improvements
  • Partner with HRIS to ensure system integration and HR processes impacting payroll are effective
  • May perform payroll system maintenance configuration, if required
  • Understand, and administer collective bargaining agreement and ground staff payroll related items as required
  • Work with HRIS to ensure all IRS, State and Local mandated configurations and system Taxation Profiles meet approved Agency compliance requirements.
  • Submit, code and approve payroll-related invoices; review and approve journal entries.
  • Participate in and contribute to all projects impacting payroll
  • Create, run and analyze semi-monthly, monthly, quarterly and year-end payroll reports for Accounting and HR.
  • Create ad-hoc payroll reports and provide payroll information as needed.
  • Year-end W2 review to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Tax inquiries and new tax jurisdiction setups with the tax agencies and in the payroll system.
  • Respond to all payroll inquiries received in a timely manner.
  • Assist with reviewing and updating SOX narratives and payroll process documentation as needed.
  • Work with HR, Benefits, Legal, Accounting, Treasury, Flight Ops Admin and various business units to resolve issues and provide payroll support and information as needed.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned
Qualifications
  • 7+ years’ experience with hands-on multi-state payroll.
  • Associates degree and/or relevant supervisory experience preferred.
  • Crew payroll knowledge preferred.
  • Experience with Ceridian-Dayforce and Workforce Management preferred.
  • General knowledge of all federal, state and local payroll tax laws and filing, reporting and compliance requirements.
  • Working knowledge of payroll related best practices, applicable wage and hour regulations and strong ability to accurately interpret and apply organizational procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Experience with information system integration, project management, payroll functions and controls
  • Effective communication, prioritization and organization skills
  • Ability to provide positive and professional customer service reflecting time-sensitivity and the highest degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction to meet deadlines
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with advanced experience in Microsoft Excel

Salary Range: $70,500 - $95,500

Overview

Atlas Air is looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Director of Data Platform and Engineering to lead our data engineering organization and drive our data infrastructure strategy forward. This individual will play a key role in helping lead the transformation of Atlas Air into a data driven and innovative leader in the transportation and logistics industry. This role will report to the VP of Data & Analytics.

 

We are building an industry leading data team and the Senior Director of Data Platform and Engineering will drive the development of our data platform from a legacy, multi-solution data environment to a modern data platform built on Databricks. The Senior Director of Data Platform and Engineering will partner with senior stakeholders across the company to help teams draw insights from their data. You will oversee the development of our data platform and implementation of robust data pipelines, solutions, and infrastructure while leading a team of talented engineers.

Responsibilities

The Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis provides critical financial insight and support across various facets of the organization, including strategic planning, budgeting, value creation, profitability analysis, and cost allocation. Responsibilities
  • Develop compelling business cases to support strategic initiatives, including value creation plan analysis, new business opportunities and fleet management decisions.
  • Value Creation & Project Analysis: Partner with the Sr. Director of FP&A and the VCO (Value Creation Office) to set accurate financial baselines for projects, validate cost savings estimates from third-party consultants, and implement robust tracking methods to monitor project performance.
  • Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) Analysis: Work with the Sr. Director of FP&A and Flight Ops to analyze the cost implications of CBAs, including those for Pilots, Flight Attendants, and other unions.
  • Build robust financial models for key investments like engine purchases, providing data-driven recommendations to upper management.
  • Collaborate across departments to develop the long-term strategic plan and ensure alignment with financial goals.
  • Support monthly and quarterly reporting processes, including profitability analysis, business segment reporting, and Board presentations.
  • Partner with operational teams to identify and implement cost-saving initiatives, enhancing flight and customer profitability.
  • Drive strategic projects, implementing Anaplan enhancements to enable critical decision-making.
Qualifications
  • 7-8 years of experience in financial analysis in a corporate setting; Airlines specific experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Finance, Accounting, or Business preferred (must have strong knowledge of accounting and financial principles); MBA is a plus.
  • Practical Anaplan model building experience, particularly at Level 3 proficiency or higher, is highly valued. Formal certification is secondary to proven experience.
  • Demonstrated ability in various analytical techniques: comparative ROI, cost-benefit analysis, valuation, statistical models, and cost accounting.
  • Proficient in Excel and financial modeling, with experience in financial reporting and planning systems. SQL and database modeling skills are advantageous.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interaction across all company levels and with external parties.
  • Highly organized and numbers-focused individual with a proven ability to deliver accurate and timely work.
  • Demonstrated flexibility to meet business needs, including extended hours and travel.

Salary Range: $100,000 - $130,000

  • Strong knowledge of modern data stack technologies (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, Airflow, dbt).
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and their data services.
